This summer, In-Between Kings & Queens presents work at the Oude Lutherse Kerk as part of WorldPride Amsterdam 2026 — the city's first time hosting this global celebration of LGBTQIA+ rights and visibility.
The exhibition includes new portraits from Shanghai, China, alongside earlier work from the rest of the In-Between Kings & Queens world and a public programme of talks, film and performance. All events are free.

In-Between Kings & Queens: New Drag Portraits from China to Debut at World Pride Amsterdam
During World Pride Amsterdam, the Oude Lutherse Kerk will host the photo exhibition In-Between Kings & Queens, featuring a powerful new series of portraits recently captured in China. Experience a striking exploration of the international drag community through unique double-portraits that reveal the complete human behind the performance. The exhibition runs from July 30th to August 9th—admission is free.
Film Screening: Activist Documentary "China PK Queen" to Screen in Amsterdam
As part of the In-Between Kings & Queens exhibition, the Oude Lutherse Kerk will host a special screening of the documentary China PK Queen on Sunday evening, August 2nd. Directed by activist Xiaogang Wei, this intimate 37-minute film (with English subtitles) follows the life of Jessica, an online drag performer in China. Join us for a deeper look into the realities and resilience of the Chinese drag community—admission is free.
